Before studying section II, I would strongly recommend reading the optional section IV of chapter 1 pages 30-44 if you have not already done so, and re-reading it if you have already read it.
You may also find that reading/re-reading of parts of the optional sections VI-IX of chapter 3 would be beneficial.
