Vasco,
Regarding Figure [26], do you know why the vertical line from p is labeled "asymptotic"? The line does not meet M at the horizon.

The asymptotic lines meet $L$ not $M$, at the horizon. In this case since $L$ goes up vertically towards the point at infinity, then so does one of the asymptotic lines in order to meet it there.
