Vasco,
A touch of the flu has put me out of the game this past week, but I glanced again at your answer to (6) and realized that now I might finally understand why Needham thinks it is so much easier to visualize the angles to the Polya vector field. I'll be getting back to to it soon.
You may have seen news of the Camp fire near Chico which has claimed 62 lives, and perhaps more that are still undiscovered. We are about 60 miles south of that. The smoke has been very heavy in the whole region of Sacramento and even down to the coast to the point where it is unhealthy to go outside. I suspect it will steadily get better this week and there should be rain on the weekend.

Gary Good to know you are on the mend! The BBC here has given a lot of coverage to the wild fires in California ever since they began earlier this year. The situation looks pretty desperate. Seems as though it will take years to recover. Some rain this weekend would clearly be most welcome. Yes that man Polya was a smart cookie! I am currently putting the finishing touches to my answer to exercise 9. Vasco
